Pravarana Ceremony (confession and purification)

Reserved for Practice Period participants.

If you have been participating in our Practice Period, please join us online via Zoom for Pravarana, a ceremony of confession and purification.

Pravarana, traditionally performed at the end of Practice Period, is a ceremony in which everyone confesses their shortcomings during Practice Period and begs forgiveness. It is mentioned in Dogen’s fascicle on Ango and at the opening of the Surangama Sutra. We will be performing it this year for the first time.

For Zoom Access & Reminder Email

Practice Period participants will receive an invitation with instructions, the text of the ceremony, and the Zoom login information in an email from the Everyday Zen mailing list.

If you’ve been participating in the Practice Period, you do not need to register. You will also be sent a reminder 24 hours before the ceremony.
