Ten students will be receiving the precepts from their teacher. Each ordainee will also receive a Dharma name, a rakusu (a small garment in the form of the Buddha’s robe, which they have hand-sewn), and both a traditional lineage paper, tracing their position in our Soto Zen family as it comes down to us from the time of the Buddha, and a women’s heritage document.
Here are the teachers offering jukai and the students receiving the precepts from them:
- Alan Block: Linda Ostro
- Chris Fortin: Patricia Redmond
- Jaune Evans: Barbara Bernier, Irene Borger
- Kathie Fischer: China Galland
- Norman Fischer: Betty Mooney, Girija Brilliant
- Norman with Sue Moon (for the Dharma name): Helen Degenhardt, Laura Hartman, Pearl Kan
