This next Wednesday, October 5, in preparation for Everyday Zen’s second annual honoring of Indigenous Peoples’ Day on Monday, October 10, Everyday Zen offers a dharma talk and conversation shared by Dr. Melissa K. Nelson and senior priest, Jaune Evans.
Dr. Nelson, whose Native American ancestry is Anishinaabe/Metis [Turtle Mountain Chippewa, serves as a professor of Indigenous Sustainability at Arizona State University and long-term leader at the San Francisco-based Cultural Conservancy. She is an ecologist, activist and educator dedicated to Indigenous rights and revitalization, Native land rematriation, decolonizing philanthropy, and the health of Mother Earth. She is also a founding board member of the Sogorea Te Land Trust and bundle holder for the Native American Academy and advisor to several Native-led philanthropic funds.
