Shukke Tokudo | Priest Ordination Ceremony

Priest Ordination Ceremony
The Zen custom of priest ordination, called shukke tokudo — literally “leaving home, attaining the way” — is a ceremony of deep commitment to the Zen precepts, the Zen path, and the sangha.
During the ceremony, students make a lifetime commitment to put Zen practice first in their lives. Please come sit with and support the ordainees as they take this momentous step.
Please check back and watch the EDZ mailing list for details.
You are welcome to join the ceremony in person or on Zoom.
