Saturday, March 28
In Person and Online

Our 2026 Practice Period begins with a special day of sitting and ceremonies at the Community Congregational Church in Tiburon, led by Norman and installing Ryú Gen Myō Ei Tracy Grubbs as our Shuso. This event is reserved for Practice Period participants and guests of the Shuso.

The day begins with sitting at 10 AM, followed by a bag lunch. In the afternoon, we’ll have a series of ceremonies. The formal opening of the Practice Period will be followed by the Shuso Entering Ceremony and the opening dharma talk. The day concludes with a Full Moon Bodhisattva Ceremony.

Practice Period participants will receive an email invitation with a link for those attending in person to register. Please also bring your own zafu and zabuton or sitting mat or request a chair when registering, and also bring a bag lunch. For those attending online, registration is not required.

No Kings Day

This first day of our Practice Period coincides with No Kings Day demonstrations, a day of nationwide action affirming democracy and peace. We will be dedicating our day of practice to the spirit and cause of the No Kings protests.

Those who want to participate in a demonstration are encouraged to do so. There is a No Kings Day event at Tam Junction in Mill Valley at 10:30 AM. Possibly sangha members can find each other there (see below). Bring signs and as appropriate wear robes or rakusus.

If better for you, attend an event closer to home, but please be at the Church in Tiburon by 12:45 for the ceremonies that begin at 1:00.

Getting There Together

Those heading to the rally at Tam Junction are invited to gather in the Community Congregational Church parking lot in Tiburon at 9:00 AM and carpool. Drivers could drop passengers at the rally site, then park at Manzanita Park and Ride (30 spaces) and walk back. Map & Walking route →

We’ll reverse the process after the rally to return to the Church by 12:45 PM in order to be settled in time for the afternoon ceremonies.
