Led by Norman Fischer

On Tuesday, May 31, Everyday Zen will hold a Jukai ceremony for lay ordainees. During this traditional ceremony, each student will receive and acknowledge the sixteen bodhisattva precepts as an ongoing path in their lives.

Ten students will be receiving the precepts from their teacher. Each ordainee will also receive a Dharma name, simple robe (rakusu), and lineage papers tracing their position in our Soto Zen family as it comes down to us from the time of the Buddha.

Here are the teachers offering jukai and the students receiving the precepts:

  • Norman Fischer: Melissa Bloom, Liz Salin, Pam Rietman
  • Alan Block: Mariam Morley, Catherine Renworth, Phyllis Greene
  • Kathie Fischer: Audrey Hazen
  • Chris Fortin: Lynne Blom, Audrey Meinertzhagen, Meg McClaskey
