This month, our Everyday Zen All-Day Sit is being held both in-person at Green Gulch Farm and on Zoom. ARobin Orden and Jeffrey Bickner will lead the All-Day Sitting. They will also offer practice discussion with priority given to those participating in-person.
The day begins at 9:00 am with a brief orientation followed by sitting and walking meditation. There will be a dharma talk in the morning. Noon service will be followed by a break for a silent lunch. In the afternoon, we return to sitting and walking meditation and conclude with an evening service. The day ends at 4:30.
We will not hold a full moon bodhisattva ceremony this month.
On this page, you will find the Zoom access info; information on practice discussion along with request forms; and links to the schedule and chants (PDFs). You might want to print out the schedule and chants.
ARobin and Jeff will be offering practice discussion with the intention of including those participating on Zoom. Because of spotty cell phone service and limited WiFi reach, this may not be possible. Those attending in person will sign up at Green Gulch Farm.
About Participating on Zoom
For those joining the All-Day Sitting on Zoom, please take care of yourself with the schedule as you need.
For sitting, you can either sit in front of your computer screen with video on or off, or sit and walk where you like. Your being onscreen will be encouraging to others, I think. Our Inos will be onscreen and ringing bells there. For services, only the officiants will be unmuted, but please join in the chanting with your mic muted if you can.
If you have questions about Zoom etiquette during our practice events, please refer to the guide linked to from this page.
Have a good sit.
Your support makes our All-Day Sittings possible. Please make a donation as your means allow. Everyone is welcome and no one will ever be turned away for lack of funds.Donate
Please use the form below to request practice discussion only if you will be participating on Zoom. Those joining in person will have the opportunity to request practice discussion at Green Gulch Farm.
Because of spotty cell phone service and limited WiFi, it may not be possible for the teachers to reach Zoom participants. But the teachers offering practice discussion will accommodate as many people as possible, with priority given to those participating in-person. For those on Zoom, they will contact you by phone on the day of the sit as time allows.
If you’re able to sign up for practice discussion on Friday before the Saturday sit, this will help the jisha organize requests for the teachers. If that’s not possible, you are welcome to sign up on the morning of the All-Day Sit.
They can contact you with a voice-only call or on FaceTime, if you have it and prefer. Please indicate your preference on the request form and make sure to leave your phone ringer on during the sit.
For questions about dokusan or practice discussion, please email our jisha, Judy Fleischman.
Practice Discussion with Jeffrey Bickner
Jeff will contact you by phone as time allows. (He’ll use FaceTime if you are on an iPhone and request that.) Please make sure to leave your phone ringer on during the sit, in order to receive the call. Thank you.
