Resources for Online Participants

Monday, April 1 – Sunday, April 7, 2024

Santa Sabina Center & Online via Zoom

Please bookmark this page for easy access during sesshin.

On Monday evening, April 1, we will gather in person at Santa Sabina and online in Zoom to begin our annual Everyday Zen Bay Area Sesshin. Over the course of the next five and a half days, we will wake early and practice together till evening, with a break in the afternoons, following the sound of the bells.

On this page, you will find the Zoom link and password along with links to resources to support you in your practice.

To get set up and orient yourself to our sesshin on Zoom, please read Norman’s Notes on Sesshin Adapted for Zoom and the Zoom Etiquette Guide before sesshin starts. You might also want to refer to them over the course of the week to refresh your understanding of the forms and intentions for our practice together during sesshin.

For daily use, please locate the Everyday Zen Chant Book, the Online Sesshin Chant Guide (with page numbers), and the all-important Online Sesshin Schedule which includes Monday evening and Sunday morning and also notes the days and times of special services and ceremonies. Please consider downloading these in advance and either printing them out or saving them on your computer in a place where you can easily find them.

Everyday Zen Senior Teacher Alan Block will be offering practice discussion to online participants during the sesshin. Please find more information about this below, along with a form for requesting to meet with him.

We have limited support for online participants. In the spirit of sesshin, we ask that online participants take care of themselves and manage sesshin links and resources for themselves as much as they can.

The Zoom hosts will post the link to this web page into the Chat window every morning before/after breakfast. From there, we will trust you to find your way to the documents and information you need to navigate and participate in the schedule.

Thank you! We look forward to practicing with you.

Dana

Sesshin teachings are offered freely, without charge. A contribution (dana) to support the teacher and our shared practice environment is the custom and greatly appreciated.

We encourage you to donate online.

Practice Discussion

Please use this form to request practice discussion.

Senior Teacher Alan Block is offering one-on-one practice discussion to online participants on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons, between 12:30 and 4:00 pm. Alan will accommodate as many people as he can during the sesshin.

Please limit yourself to one meeting request during the sesshin so that he will be able to see as many people as possible.

You will meet with Alan by phone (voice or FaceTime, as you prefer).

After submitting the form below, you will be sent an email with instructions. If you do not see the email, please check your spam folder and/or search for email from <webadmins@everydayzen.org>. If you use Gmail, also check under “All Mail.”

Please have your phone turned on and close by with the ringer on during the times that Alan is offering practice discussion. When he calls, you do not need to exit the Zoom sesshin meeting room, but please turn off your camera and then turn it back on when you return to sitting.

Note: There is no online jisha during this sesshin to assist with practice discussion appointments. Please do your best to read and follow the instructions carefully on your own.

Thank you! We hope you have a good practice discussion.
