Documents & Links for Online Participants

Monday, March 27 – Sunday, April 2, 2023

Santa Sabina Center in San Rafael & Online in Zoom

On Monday evening, March 27, we will gather in person at Santa Sabina and online in Zoom to begin our 19th annual Everyday Zen Sesshin. Over the course of the next five and a half days, we will wake early and practice together till evening, with a break in the afternoons, following the sound of the bells.

On this page, you will find the Zoom link and password along with links to resources to support you in your practice.

To get set up and orient yourself to our sesshin on Zoom, please read Norman’s Notes on Sesshin Adapted for Zoom and the Zoom Etiquette Guide before sesshin starts. You might also want to refer to them over the course of the week to refresh your understanding of the forms and intentions for our practice together during sesshin.

For daily use, please locate the Everyday Zen Chant Book, the Online Sesshin Chant Guide (with page numbers), and the all-important Online Sesshin Schedule which includes Monday evening and Sunday morning and also notes the days and times of special services and ceremonies. Please consider downloading these in advance and either printing them out or saving them on your computer in a place where you can easily find them.

We will have limited support for online participants this year. The Zoom hosts will post the link to this web page into the Chat window every morning before/after breakfast. From there, we will trust you to find your way to the documents and information you need to navigate and participate in the schedule.

Renshin Bunce, a Senior Everyday Zen teacher, will be offering Practice Discussion over the course of sesshin. You will find the Request Form at the bottom of this page. Please avail yourself of this opportunity to discuss your practice with a teacher once (and no more than once) during sesshin.

In the spirit of sesshin, we ask that Zoom participants take care of themselves and manage sesshin links and resources for themselves as much as they can.

Please bookmark this page for easy access during sesshin.

Thank you! We look forward to practicing with you.

First Evening Schedule

The Zoom sesshin zendo will open at 6:45 pm (PT) on Monday, March 27. Use this time to fine tune your space, get settled, and test your equipment before the zendo camera from Santa Sabina comes on around 7:15 to welcome us all to sesshin.

Following that brief welcome, we’ll have an orientation for Zoom participants. At 8:30 pm, we’ll have a period of zazen. The Pali Refuges will complete the evening by 9:00 pm.

Zoom sesshin will end mid-morning on Sunday, April 2nd.

Dana

Sesshin teachings are offered freely, without charge. A contribution (dana) to support the teacher and our shared practice environment is the custom and greatly appreciated.

We encourage you to donate online.

Practice Discussion

Please use this form to request practice discussion.

Senior Teacher Renshin Bunce will accommodate as many people as she can during the sesshin for individual, one-on-one practice discussion. Please limit yourself to one meeting request during the sesshin so that she will be able to see as many people as possible.

You will meet with the teacher in a separate Zoom meeting room from the main sesshin meeting room.

To join the practice discussion room, you will exit the main Zoom room and join the practice discussion room. When done, you will exit the practice discussion room and re-join the main room.

After submitting the form below, you will be sent an email with instructions and the Zoom link for practice discussion. If you do not see the email, please check your spam folder and/or search for email from <webadmins@everydayzen.org>. If you use Gmail, also check under “All Mail.”

Note: There is no online jisha during this sesshin to assist with practice discussion appointments. Please do your best to read and follow the instructions carefully on your own.

Thank you! We hope you have a good practice discussion.
