Nothing Matters

another poem about emotions not being exactly what we think they are

Nothing Matters

Nothing matters
But the quality
Of the affection
In the end
In the beginning
Nothing matters

But the quality
Of the affection, how
Smooth, how
Rough, in
The end
Nothing matters

But the quality
At the end of
The affection, the
Beginning, how it
Wears, its weal,
Nothing matters

But the survival
Of the affection
If it is possible
Rough, smooth
In the end
The beginning

Nothing matters
In the end
Affection, its quality
One cannot speak it
One cannot speak of it
In the end

Did you expect
To go on
Forever
That we would
Go on forever
That there would be

No end to us
Our life here
As there’s an end
Forever ending
To anything
In the quality

Of the affection
Find the ending
Point to the
Ending
Already in the beginning
There, an end:

Woe to them
That conquer with armies
And whose only right
Is their power
