Jan 23rd 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
SFZC Online Zendo
Saturday, Jan 23 6:00pm - 8:00pm
In every country, the formless wisdom of Buddha’s teaching has assumed the shapes and practices comprehensible to the local culture. So, what is American Zen? And how can we as modern-day practitioners express and embody the core of Buddha’s teachings without strictly adhering to or appropriating its cultural heritage? In this conversation, actor and author Peter Coyote, San Francisco Zen Center Abbess Fu Schroeder, and Everyday Zen Founder, Norman Fischer, will explore the essence of Zen, its monastic tradition, and how it’s been shaped by American values and culture.
