The first segment of the Bodhisattva Precept Study Group, Aug–Dec, is complete. It was an intimate and lively sharing and reflecting on the precepts in our everyday lives. The second segment began on Jan. 15. We study a new Precept each month.
Everyone is welcome. Anytime is a good time for newcomers to join in.
The meetings take place on the fourth Wed of every month, 4:30-6:00pm online on Zoom. The Zoom space will be open for silent sitting beginning at 4pm.
The series of sixteen meetings has been divided into three segments, Aug-Dec (Refuges and Three Pure Precepts); Jan–June (first five Clear Mind Precepts); Aug–Dec (last five Clear Mind Precepts).
You can commit to just one segment, if not the whole series. For more information and background, you can take a look at Shohaku Okumura’s Living By Vow or Dale Wright’s The Six Perfections.
Here are the next three dates:
- April 22: "Not to lie but to be truthful."
- May 27: "Not to intoxicate with substances or doctrines but to promote clarity and awareness"
- June 24: "Not to speak of others' faults but to speak out of loving kindness".
We hope that those who want to participate will commit to attending as often as you can. (We know not everyone will be there every time.)
We will send out encouragements and readings between each meeting, so be sure to come to the first meeting, and if you're new let us know if you want to join in but aren't able to be there, we'll add you to the email list. You can email Jaune at email@example.com.
The study group is offered freely, and we are always grateful for Dana contributions.
We look forward to offering this study of the heart of our lineage and practice together and to being with all of you.
