May 21st 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
in may the dharma seminar will meet four times, may 7,14,21,28. i am happy that although i will be traveling in may i will be able to lead all four meetings.

we'll study the mindfulness sutra. i will be following mainly thich nhat hanh's version with commentary (pub originally under the title "transformation and healing").(his translation of the sutra is available at

http://plumblossomsangha.wordpress.com/more/essential-sutras-2-the-four-establishments-of-mindfulness-satipatthana-sutra/

but there are many other versions and commentaries. my favorites: RL Soni "The Only Way to Deliverance," Ven H. Gunaratana, "Mindfulness in Plain English," and the old classic Nyanaponika Thera, "The Heart of Buddhist Meditation."

The Dharma Seminars are an intimate way for Bay Area students to study and practice together. The evening includes a period of zazen followed by lecture and small and large group discussion generally centered around a classical text. Our emphasis is always on the application of the teachings to daily life, and there are often practices assigned through the week.

Students are asked to commit to attending all meetings in the calendar month.

Suggested donation is $100 for the month.

The seminars are held at the Community Congregational Church in Tiburon.

For more information about the seminars or to enroll, please contact Laura Stillman at dharmaseminar@libertyst.com
