Taking Refuge in this Wild World
Everyday Zen Annual Women’s Retreat
Thursday, February 22 to Saturday, February 24, 2018
Commonweal Retreat Center, Bolinas
with Chris Fortin and Sue Moon
Because our dear Angela Center burned down, we have had to find another place. We are lucky to have gotten a time and space at Commonweal, a beautiful healing center on the Bolinas Mesa, overlooking the ocean. This is the perfect place to explore the subject of refuge. And the wild Douglas Iris will be blooming when we come!
Taking Refuge in this Wild World: In these challenging times, can we take refuge in life as it is and not turn away? Refuge is both geographical and spiritual, both inside and outside. Giving ourselves to the wild beauty of the Bolinas Mesa, the crashing ocean waves, and the vast night skies; wholeheartedly meeting ourselves, each other, and whatever asks to be met, may we be and embody refuge, holding each other and the whole world, playing and resting in the arms of it all.
We’ll arrive late afternoon on Thursday and meet until midday Saturday this year because there is an EDZ all-day sitting on Sunday, Feb. 25.
The cost of the retreat is $300/person for single room accommodation, and $285/person for double room accommodation. This amount includes meals, which will be planned and prepared by ARobin Orden and Erika Wild. This amount does not include dana, a donation for the teachings. Partial scholarships are available, and donations towards the scholarship fund are gratefully accepted.
Attendance is capped at 24 people, smaller than in the past, so don’t delay! Your place will be held when your deposit ($100) is received and your registration form completed. The retreat is open to women who have an ongoing relationship with Everyday Zen, through weekly seminars, monthly sittings, annual sesshin, Everyday Zen Dialogs, or participation in other EDZ sanghas or activities, in the Bay Area or elsewhere.
