Jewish Meditation Workshop in Ashland

Jul 15th 9:00 am - 4:00 pm
Sunday, July 15th: Norman Fischer will be returning to Temple Emek Shalom in Ashland, Oregon to offer a day-long meditation workshop. 9:00am to 4:00pm
Using Norman's translation of psalms, Opening to You: Zen-inspired Translations of the Psalms, we'll contemplate these great ancient poems as a template for spiritual practice. Most of the day will be spent in silent sitting and walking meditation, with some guided meditation, with informal talks/discussions to open out the psalms as they touch the heart. No experience in meditation or Jewish liturgical practice necessary. Questions and registration: Call Kathy Balint at (541) 488-2909 oroffice@emekshalom.org. $45 per person (includes delicious vegetarian lunch).

And
As an extra bonus, Norman and Rabbi Joshua Boettiger will join in a poetry reading the night before at 8:00pm at Emek Shalom (Saturday evening, July 14th). Norman will be reading from his just-out poetry titles: Untitled Series: Life As It Is (Talisman House) and On a Train at Night (PURH, France). Both books will be available for sale on site. Joshua will open for Norman and read some poems from his just-completed thesis, Without Praise or Blame.
