Sunday Meditation and Dharma Talk
Evening online mediation and dharma talk with the Sacramento Buddhist Meditation Group led by Norman
This weekend retreat will be in honor of the dream and the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Like Dr King, Mahayana Buddhism also has a dream of radical compassion and universal belonging. We’ll focus on the teachings of the Lotus Sutra, the most important Buddhist sutra for Far East Asian Buddhism, famous for its radical insistence that all beings without exception are Buddhas, and that each one, in their own way, expresses the dharma. We’ll practice silent sitting and walking meditation, and study this sutra with short dharma talks and discussion, and with reference to the teachings and example of Dr. King, whose social vision was religiously inspired. All are welcome. It is not necessary to read the Lotus Sutra in advance, though doing so would probably increase the delight.
Note: A related event will be held on Saturday, Jan 16.
