This Month

We will be reading Dogen’s Mountains and Rivers Sutra, #15 in Kaz Tanahashi's translation of Shobogenzo (Treasury of the True Dharma Eye). The text is also translated in Kaz’s Moon in a Dewdrop.

Other versions are available online in pdf format, including Mountains and Waters Discourse (1) (Sansui Kyo) By Zen Master Dogen (PDF), translated by Kazuaki Tanahashii, courtesy Upaya Institute and Zen Center. (This is a somewhat different version than is published in the Kaz Tanahashi version of Shobogenzo.)

There are also two new books on the text, one by Norman, Mountains and Rivers Sutra: Teachings by Norman Fischer, compiled by Kuya Monogue (Sumeru Press, just out), and the other by Shohaku Okamura, Mountains and Waters Sutra, Wisdom Publications.

Directions and Details

Donations

Suggested donation for the series is $100 ($25 per session) or whatever you are comfortable contributing during this time.  You can send a check or donate online.  As you know, these donations make the seminars possible.  Of course, everyone is welcome and no one will ever be turned away for lack of funds.
